Babies and their bottles!
Some tips for babies and bottles:
- A bottle that contains any liquid other than water should not be left with children when they fall asleep
- Drinking juice from a bottle should be avoided, it should only be offered in a cup.
- Milk and water are the preferred drinks for young age groups.
- No sweeteners should be added to the bottle, this can cause decay.
What age should my child give up their bottle?
Generally, you should wean your baby from a bottle around the age of one year.
How do I wean my child from their bottle?
There are two common methods:
- “Cold Turkey” approach
- Gradual approach – usually begins the day with bottles, then a sippy cup can be used during the day, followed by the last and most difficult step which is the bottle before bedtime
